Skincare routine revisited + Beauty of Joseon review

Hi guys welcome back to the blog ♥

Hope everyone's well and having a good week.

Back in January I shared with you what skincare products I use daily and I mentioned I had bought a couple of new items which I would report back on. Here's the link to that post if you wanna quick read.

About a week or so after writing that post I really started looking at my skin and to be honest it wasn't looking quite right. I always seem to have a red nose and red chin which does bother me. I don't drink alcohol very much at all, literally a glass of wine a month, if that, so it can't be alcohol related. I'm thinking maybe some sort of mild rosacea maybe or maybe it is my skin reacting to the products I use.

I went on good old ChatGPT and that suggested I literally strip everything back basically and just use warm water to wash my face in the morning and minimise the products I'm using on my face. When I entered what I was using it recommended to stop using the toner that I had and that was definitely not good for my skin.

I mean I wasn't surprised about the toner to be fair. I did feel it wasn't doing anything and it was quite cheap for the size of bottle, so I should of known really!

So following the advice of ChatGPT I've literally used the minimum over the past couple of months. Recently I have started to reintroduce a few more of my products here and there, but I'm making sure I'm not over doing it and using loads at once.

I do want to eventually switch my products to ones that ChatGPT suggested, or similar, but I do need to be sensible as I'm not made of money! I will continue using what I have and then as things need replacing that's when I will add in the new products.

So now I literally wash my face with warm water in the morning, which I have noticed people saying about this on social media, but I do need to do a deeper dive into it.

I then use my moisturiser, some eye cream (which to be honest I'm only using as I have it & want to use it up, I'm not sure it is doing anything either way!) I then apply my SPF50. Some days I'm also using my new Ziaja CC cream which I showed you guys over on my YouTube channel. And that is pretty much it. I don't wear make-up everyday, if I do it is literally some bronzer, some sort of blush or highlighter, very rarely mascara as lately it just bothers my eyes. I always seem to get bits in my eye and I always find it a pain to remove mascara at night, so it seems easier not to wear it!

As you can tell I really have stripped it all back. In the evening, if I've worn make-up I obviously remove that, cleanse and wash my face with facewash. Chat did recommend not to use foam facewash. I have since bought one from Ziaja range which is a foam, but it says it's for sensitive & redness prone skin. I don't use it everyday, my redness areas aren't any worse, but not better either, so not sure if that particular facewash is doing anything either!

If I haven't worn any make-up and have used the bare minimum of skincare I just wash my face with warm water again and apply some moisturiser and my wrinkle cream. (which I have found very good - I'll share that in my next beauty post)

I still have the redness on my chin and nose unfortunately. I think it's going to be a slow continuousness trial and error effort before I'm able to combat it entirely.

Beauty of Joseon review

 Dynasty Cream

 Relief Sun SPF50

When I went into my local Normal shop here in Spain and saw they were selling Beauty of Joseon products I did get slightly giddy. I'd seen beauty bloggers talk about them and obviously with the rise in popularity of Korean skincare, I really wanted to try it. I was hooked or influenced if you like!

Beauty of Joseon is more then I'd usually spend on beauty products, but it's been so hyped and if it's more expensive surely it's got to be better quality and will give you that desired glass skin we all want at the moment.

First I bought the Relief Sun SPF50 as I figured SPF for me is a super important item to have in my daily skincare. I then bought the Dynasty Cream a couple of weeks later when I was ready for a new daily moisturiser.

When I first mentioned about my new products in my previous post I had in mind I would of course have a whole dedicated blogpost for them, as I was 100% sure they were going to be fantastic and the answer to my skincare needs I've been after for years.

But to be honest after using them for the past couple of months and my Dynasty Cream is practically finished I really haven't got much to say about them at all.

I don't want to be negative about them because there isn't anything necessarily negative. They are nice products. The packaging is nice and ascetically pleasing (but that doesn't help your skin does it).

I don't feel I got that wonderful glass skin effect. I did think my make-up looked slightly nicer when using the Dynasty Cream though. The cream does feel light on the skin which is always a plus. But for me it wasn't worth the money, which was just over 20 euros. I'm just not convinced. It is nice product, but it didn't do enough for me or wow me enough to warrant spending that kind of money every few months.

I have similar thoughts on the Relief Sun SPF50. It is a nice sun cream. But again it was just over 20 euros for 50ml. The packaging is nice and the cream does have a nice texture, which is what you want for a face sun cream. It's light and is not greasy at all, but I just don't think I can justify spending that amount for it.

So there we have it. I really thought and hoped I'd be doing a really lovely in depth glowing blogpost about the Beauty of Joseon products I bought. Unfortunately I won't be buying them again, not straight away anyway. Maybe when I use other products for a while I may think, 'oh actually they were better', but for now they'll be staying on the shelf.

That's the thing with skincare and beauty products, we all have different skin, wants and needs. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. I think it's all trial and error until you find that perfect fit for you. I think it's good to read reviews, but don't get completely sucked in, try and make up your own mind.

I just wish there would be more trial size products, so you don't always have to buy full size until you know it's for you!

Have you used any Beauty of Joseon products or other Korean skincare at all?

♥ Heather
