Nutella hearts recipe

Puff pastry hearts filled with Nutella on a wooden serving dish

Hi guys,

Bringing you a bonus post this week!

I hope everyone had a good Valentines weekend ♥

Mark and I don't really celebrate it. I mean, does anyone really know anymore why it exists?! I just see it as a bit of light hearted fun and I really do believe it shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Saying that though we did do cards this year and I bought Mark a box of Lindor chocolates, which are his favorite and I'm quite partial too. I only got them as they are like gold dust here and I couldn't find any for his Birthday back in January. So when I saw a mixed box (the red ones are his faves) I had to get them. They were a mix of dark, milk and white chocolate. Obviously the milk (red) are delicious. I'm into dark chocolate at the mo, but to be honest the dark chocolate Lindor were just OK, I expected more to be honest. The white chocolate were really tasty and definitely came in second place to the milk chocolate ones.

Anyway, slightly digressing as per usual. You are here for the Nutella hearts.

The last few Christmases I've made the Nutella Christmas tree, so when I saw I still had some puff pastry in the freezer and with Valentines looming the next day I thought I'd make some Nutella hearts.

This is such an easy recipe. Which is what I like. Quick, easy, tasty treat.

You will need

Ingredients

+ Ready rolled puff pastry

+ Nutella

+ Some milk

+ Icing sugar

Tools

+ Heart shaped cookie cutter

(or any shape as these can be made all year round, lol)

+ Greaseproof paper

+ Oven baking tray

+ Small sieve

+ Pastry brush

+ Fork & teaspoon

To make the Nutella hearts

This is literally so easy and quick

+ Pre-heat your oven 180°c or equivalent

+ Put a sheet of greaseproof paper on your baking tray

+ Roll out the pastry

(I always sprinkle some flour on my chopping board for the pastry just incase it sticks, not sure if it's actually needed for the ready rolled, but just incase - your preference)

+ Use your cookie cutter to cut out the hearts & place on your baking tray

+ Put a teaspoon of Nutella in the middle of each heart

+ Cut out some more hearts & place them on top of the Nutella ones

+ With the fork gently press the sides down

+ Brush the tops with some milk

(you can also use egg if you prefer, but I just prefer milk)

+ Put in the oven for 15 - 18 mins

(I do 15 mins first, then if I feel they need longer, pop them back in the oven, just keep an eye on them a minute at a time!)

+ When you've taken them out of the oven sprinkle some icing sugar over them

(be careful, I'm always heavy handed and one or two always gets coated!)

+ Enjoy! ♥

Let me know if you make them and if you have any fun variations on the Nutella hearts!

See you Thursday for my normal post.
