Tips for a tidy home to keep you focused

I don't know about you guys, but having a tidy and clean home really helps me to focus better and actually gives me motivation and more get up and go.

Our house isn't necessarily messy, Mark and I are quite tidy people. I always leave the kitchen clean and tidy, dishwasher on, all the washing up done before I go to bed, morning me is always thankful of this.

But with 12 cats the house can look a little scruffy quite quickly.

After the weekend I always want to get going with a new blog and start vlogging for my YouTube, but there's always a little barrier inside me stopping me and it's not until recently I've noticed that it's literally because the house isn't nice and tidy.

It must bother something inside of me that can't seem to settle or focus until it's done.

So now I make sure after I've dropped Mark off at the airport instead of moping around missing him, I start my housework asap. Whereas before I would do it gradually throughout the week.

I like to give the whole house a hoover first.

It is actually pretty amazing how good it feels after a simple hoover and tidy up.

Which also usually involves me putting all the cat toys back in their toy boxes!

Mopping through the house as well always feels good and makes the house feel that little bit extra fresh and clean.

The bathrooms are kept clean daily, as I have a thing about bathrooms, they should always be clean and fresh, as that is where you wash and well, clean yourself! But once a week they have a full clean too.

There's obviously the extra cleaning jobs, the windows, doors, outside balcony etc, but I have found that once the basics are done my mind feels so much clearer and these jobs can be tackled throughout the week and don't necessarily stop me from feeling focused and motivated.

I have been struggling recently to focus on my blog and get myself back into the habit of posting once a week after I accidently took some time off from it. It was hard to get back in the swing of everything when my routine had been thrown off for a few weeks.

But I'm back, feeling focused again now I've realised, I think anyway, what was subconsciously blocking me.

Either way it's a win win, a constantly tidy house and a motivated me!

My tips for keeping your house tidy for some instant focus & motivation

* figure out what makes you feel the house is instantly tidy & start with that ~ mine is hoovering, always feels so much better once the house has been hoovered

* have multi-surface wipes kept in every bathroom ~ that way they are instantly at hand for a quick few minutes spruce up.

* if you have cats like me toy boxes are key, somewhere to just pop all their toys in after they've had a busy night of playing! I have baskets for mine, nothing fancy, but they work really well ~ I'm sure this works for any pet and for children's toys too!

* if you have a bunch of your stuff out & haven't got time to put away properly, but really need to get on with things other then cleaning, have your own toy box ~ a cute box where you can put everything in & can sort out properly later in the day. A pending box if you like

* make a list of what cleaning job is bothering you most, then time block yourself, say 20minutes, then just go & get that job done, hit it one by one ~ it's amazing what you can get done in 20 minutes!

some tips for moving forward, to make it easier to do those quick tidy's

* try not to overwhelm yourself that you have to do a full spring clean every week ~ keep it simple, hoover, mop, bathrooms

* slowly start sorting out drawers and cupboards ~ once these are done your daily life will be so much easier & tidying up will be easier when you have a place for everything

* like the kitchen I always spend 10 minutes before bed straightening up the lounge ~ again future you will be thankful & the next morning you will be so much more focused for the day

I hope you find these tips helpful and let me know if you have anything to add to the list!

I really do believe, a clean home is a clear mind
