Christmas catch up

Well Hello friends!

It's been a hot minute since I've been in here and shared anything.

Life has been steady, not gonna lie and say I've been mega busy doing this that and the other, but it has been steady just doing my normal day to day things. I've had a couple of weekends over to the UK to see Mark, Mark home on the other weekends, plus last weekend we drove Marks car home to Spain from the UK!

And here we are, all of a sudden it's Christmas and the big day has crept upon us.

I actually started writing this post on Christmas Eve lol and I wanted to share some exciting news.

We've ordered a new car for me, a Ford Kuga. I'm so excited! My current car is a Ford Ecosport and even though I love her and will be sad to see her go, she's nearly eight years old and is starting to get a little tired around the edges, little things are starting to play up and you know with cars once one thing starts to go it can start to snowball.

The Kuga should be ready around the end of February which is very exciting. Another thing regarding the car experience, I actually took one for a test drive. Which I'm sure to 99% of you that isn't a big deal, but for me it was and it really was something I had to push myself out of my comfort zone to do.

Even though I can drive and have held a license for many years for some reason I get super nervous if I have to drive a different car and definitely a car bigger then what I'm used too. Also having a stranger in my car too makes me nervous. But it went so well. The salesman was really nice and Mark was in the back too. At first I did feel like I was on a driving lesson haha, but once I pulled away the car was so lovely and smooth to drive I just kind of forgot about my worries and nerves and enjoyed the driving experience.

The Kuga didn't feel that much bigger actually then my Ecosport, it looks it and feels more spacious inside, but technically it isn't much wider at all and didn't feel much bigger when I was driving it. The car is longer, but we have lot's of parking bells and whistles these days haha so the car is definitely Heather proof, lol.

I was a bit disappointed that when I shared the news with my immediate family they didn't really show much interest. My sister-in-law did which was lovely. Maybe it's not that interesting to people, but I think when you're excited about something big like buying a car or a house you'd think and hope certain people would be happy for you and share your excitement, I know I am for family and friends. Do you ever find this when sharing exciting things, that family or friends don't really show any interest or seem to show they're happy for you? I think this is why we all love to share on social media because sometimes our internet family is actually happier for you! It also strengthens the whole mantra to celebrate your own wins and achievements, remember to praise yourself and to be happy for YOU!

So along with ordering my new car on Christmas Eve we went for a lovely walk and a very un-planned impromptu menu del dia. We stopped at a restaurant called La Piazza in Mil Palmeras. The menu del dia was a bargain €13.99 including a drink, well it would be rude not too. We had a table in the sun and it was a lovely way to spend Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day was actually pouring with rain all day! We had a slow lazy morning and decided to cook our roast earlier then planned. We ate and then felt we really needed to do our walk. It's funny once you get yourself into the habit you really do feel twitchy about missing a day. So we drove over to Zenia Boulevard. Which is an open air shopping mall. We knew the shops would be closed but it has underground parking so we knew we could walk around there to get our steps in. Not the most inspiring, but needs must lol. The rain eased and there were a few people about. Some of the restaurants and coffee shops were open so we stopped for a coffee. With our steps achieved, the car topped up with fuel we went home to resume the lazy day pigging out on Christmas treats!

Boxing day the sun was back out. We went for a lovely walk along the promenade at Mil Palmeras, our usual walking spot when Marks home. It was a little chilly, but with beautiful sunshine. On the way back we stopped at Manolos Mar a restaurant there for a coffee and ended up having some beautiful tapas too. We've eaten in there a few times now and the food is delicious. It's also a lovely spot for a coffee too. If you're ever in the area it is worth a visit.

All in all a lovely few days of relaxing and taking it easy.

I hope you've had a lovely time over the Christmas period whether celebrating or not. We definitely enjoy the more low key Christmas these days to be honest. No stress, no drama, which is what it should be about, don't you think?

Now for the bit in-between Christmas and New Year. Do you take your decorations down or leave them up? I'll be taking mine down over the next couple of days. For me it's time for a big clean up and refresh. I do love having the decorations up, but they have been up since the 1st of December, so for me it's time to take them down. Plus, it's Marks Birthday on the 3rd of January so I like to have the clear distinction between Christmas, New Year and his Birthday.

Again, I hope you guys had a great time over the Christmas period. I think I actually prefer the whole lead up to Christmas these days. When the shops are full of present ideas and fun Christmas displays, Christmas music playing. I'm buying a few little gifts for people and sending out cards, even though sadly these days the Christmas card list get's shorter. Getting the decorations up from the cellar and putting them out around the house. Each year adding to our collection of Christmas decorations. I really do find it a fun time and happy time. Something about it does just make you feel a little bit warmer inside. I know that sounds a little cheesy, but I do still love to embrace and enjoy this time of year and of course love having Christmas 'our way'.

With that said it is time to start putting some of the decs away. I think I'll leave the outside decorations up for a little longer. In Spain they also celebrate Three Kings on the 6th January - so I may keep them up until then!

Ciao for now and enjoy the last couple of days of 2025!

♥ Heather

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! I just wanted to pop on here quickly and wish you all a very Happy New Year. As you know I've recently started the blog up again and it has been a bit of a slow burner getting back into it. The last couple of weeks something seems to have switched though and I really want to get up and running properly. I know I've literally done two posts and this will be my third lol, but I am really enjoying having a blog again and sharing whatever comes along. I'm under no illusion the blog will be a slow burner, which to be honest I want it to be, I want to get myself into the swing of it all, challenge myself and get myself into the habit of posting regularly and consistently. The beauty of blogs is that they can be read at any time which is wonderful, but I think for me to get into the habit that I want, I need to have a focused day I will release my posts on. So, for now I am going to start posting just once a week to begin with on a Thursday. (Hence me making sure...

My daily beauty products

Hi Guys, I hope 2026 is treating you well so far. In my previous  post  I mentioned about some beauty products I had just started using and I will report to you my thought's in due course, but it got me to thinking about the products I already use on a daily basis. My bathroom staples if you like, the go-to's.  It's something I'm always curious to know, what are the products on peoples sinks, their everyday toiletries. Not the ones that maybe an ad feature or collaboration, but the ones that get popped in the shopping basket week after week, month after month. The products that may not be as aesthetically pleasing, but always make the cut. I'm not going to go through every single product I use, 'cause quite frankly you and me just don't have the time and if you're anything like me you haven't got the attention span for it either. But I am going to show you the main players that I literally use everyday. Some I do switch up according to price and ju...

Sale shopping

Hi guys and welcome back to the blog. I wanted to chat to you about the sales. I know a lot of shops have their sales pretty much on-going these days and in a lot of stores the prices get slashed well before Christmas. In Spain though the main sales don't start in stores until January 7th, the day after the Three Kings celebration or Dia de Reyes. Usually they do start online on the evening of the 6th though. Of course like a lot of us I love a bargain so I had to go to the Boulevard on the 7th to check out the sales.  To be honest though I didn't really buy much at all. I mean I was ready to shop, I had the green light from Mark, but not much took my fancy to be honest. I am getting more sensible in my old age when it comes to buying. When I was younger I used to buy so much that was on sale and looking back it was really random stuff that just didn't get worn, but it was a bargain! Crazy mentality, but I guess we all have to go through that. There was so much lovely knitw...
