A little reset after our Pensacola holiday

Our pool and patio in Spain in September

We've been back from our holiday to Pensacola for nearly two weeks now and life is slowly getting back into its normal routine. It really does take a good week if not longer to get the house and yourself sorted after a holiday. Also throw in the jetlag it certainly does take its time.

I think we're back on Spanish time now, we're not sleeping great at night, but that's more to do with the cats waking us up multiple times. I think they're either checking we're still here and not leaving them again or they're telling us off for going away! 😂

I managed to work through the mountain of washing and then ironing. I did the initial clean of the house. Obviously straightening up after the fur-babies, washed the throws from the settees, hoovered, mopped, dusted.

The garden needed some attention too. So many weeds shot up over the nine days we were away, the squirrels had been busy munching on their pine cones, so lots of debris had fallen onto the patio. And the pool, well, Mark and I both collectively forgot to add extra chlorine to it before we went away and during the course of the week the water had turned very cloudy and murky with a green tinge, yuk.

Mark's worked hard on the pool since we've been back, hoovering it, netting, cleaning filters and adding a chemical for the 'green' and it's slowly coming good. The sides do need a scrub though, which we'll hopefully work on over the weekend, but we are due some stormy weather so hopefully that won't set the water back too much.

So after doing all the initial back home from holiday jobs, Mark's been back in the office this week and I've been working on the usual, house, garden, blog.

Saying that, the garden is looking OK at the moment and there's not too much to do as I did tackle the weeds at the weekend just gone. Well, there is actually always something to be doing in our garden, but it's at a stage it can be left for a few days while I concentrate on the house.

It's funny, after I've been away from the house for a week or even a few days I always see lots of cleaning things that need to be done. I'm not just talking about the regular weekly hoovering, mopping, dusting etc. I'm talking about more of the behind the scenes stuff. The doors all need a good wipe down, the kitchen cabinets need a good clean, the inside of our clothes drawers need dusting, wiping down and tidying.

I'm going to try not to overwhelm myself though and just add in one of these extra tasks a week I think. That way they will get done, but if I overload myself with too many cleaning jobs it will just stress me out and I won't get anything done. Please tell me that's not just me!

But for now we are going to make the most of the lovely September weather. It still feels very summery here in Spain, but without the busyness of the tourists. It is such a lovely time of year.

The weekend for us looks very much our daily walks by the beach, obviously stopping for our OJ, coffee, tostada and not forgetting the massive napolitanas! if you follow me on Instagram you will know all about this weekend routine! (@byheatherdaily)

Then relaxing by the pool, hopefully going in, before it gets too chilly. Then lot's of fur-baby cuddles too.

Oh and the new Mobland is released today so hopefully we can watch that and some Criminal Minds too! You know, all relaxing TV stuff, haha 😂

Happy weekend

Heather

My experience with Emdogain

Hola mi amigos! Happy Thursday and welcome back to the blog. I hope everyone is well. I wanted to chat today about my recent Emdogain surgery. They call it surgery, but I guess it's really a procedure, as it's done under local anaesthetic, they just numbed the area of the gum and it was done at my dentist practice. Either way it wasn't a pleasant thing to go though. My sympathy goes out to you if you're having this done or anything to do with your teeth for that matter.  I think since I had braces about 5 or 6 years ago my pain threshold for the dentist has completely gone down to zero. I never used to mind going to the dentist, but recently I dread it. It's probably because I'm getting older and things are sadly starting to go wrong. It just feels like every time you go they suggest something else that will need attention. Anyway, with that aside let me tell you a little bit about Emdogain. Well how I understand it anyway and what I've been through with i...

Skincare routine revisited + Beauty of Joseon review

Hi guys welcome back to the blog ♥ Hope everyone's well and having a good week.  * * * Back in January I shared with you what skincare products I use daily and I mentioned I had bought a couple of new items which I would report back on. Here's the  link  to that post if you wanna quick read. About a week or so after writing that post I really started looking at my skin and to be honest it wasn't looking quite right. I always seem to have a red nose and red chin which does bother me. I don't drink alcohol very much at all, literally a glass of wine a month, if that, so it can't be alcohol related. I'm thinking maybe some sort of mild rosacea maybe or maybe it is my skin reacting to the products I use. I went on good old ChatGPT and that suggested I literally strip everything back basically and just use warm water to wash my face in the morning and minimise the products I'm using on my face. When I entered what I was using it recommended to stop using the to...

My daily beauty products

Hi Guys, I hope 2026 is treating you well so far. In my previous  post  I mentioned about some beauty products I had just started using and I will report to you my thought's in due course, but it got me to thinking about the products I already use on a daily basis. My bathroom staples if you like, the go-to's.  It's something I'm always curious to know, what are the products on peoples sinks, their everyday toiletries. Not the ones that maybe an ad feature or collaboration, but the ones that get popped in the shopping basket week after week, month after month. The products that may not be as aesthetically pleasing, but always make the cut. I'm not going to go through every single product I use, 'cause quite frankly you and me just don't have the time and if you're anything like me you haven't got the attention span for it either. But I am going to show you the main players that I literally use everyday. Some I do switch up according to price and ju...
