Stop saving things for best

A cup of tea in a white mug beside the pool in Spain

So, today has turned out to be a funny one.

I've had quite a few free windows of time to pop on here and do some blogging, but I just haven't been able to put any words together for a post.

I wanted to write about why we always save things for best, but the words just didn't happen.

So I'm popping on here chatty style - which I think maybe more the vibe I want to go for? who knows?!

I've been flat out the last couple of days really getting my housework jobs done, getting loads of washing and ironing done as well.

We've noticed our electricity bills have shot up this month, so one of the things we thought we could cut back on was the washing. Don't worry we're not turning into stinkers over here, just trying to be more mindful with the washing loads moving forward. I have noticed I do so many little loads throughout the week, so I've actually saved them up and done a couple of full loads. Which is I'm sure is a lot more economical all round really.

Has anyone else noticed their electricity bills shooting up? We're with Iberdrola and when we investigated further it wasn't actually our consumption increasing, the tariffs had gone up. We spoke to them and through the app we managed to change the tariff, so we will see when the next bill comes in if that's made a difference, fingers crossed, but it's always worth giving them a call.

So the house is fully clean and tidy and I even randomly cleaned the fridge this evening. I gave it a proper clean, took out all the shelves and drawers, put everything back nice and tidy. The fridge is pretty bare at the moment so it really didn't take too long to sort out.

I did have a bit of a panic though when I put the bottom drawers in the wrong way round. I then got the slidey piece of glass jammed between them. The fridge started beeping as the door had been open too long which didn't help matters!

I grabbed a tea towel and luckily somehow managed to slide the piece of glass back out and get the drawers in their correct position!

Flippin' eck it was a stressful few minutes!

So, as I was saying earlier about what I originally wanted to chat on the blog today was about saving things for best.

Why do we do that? I'm sure we all do it.

Life is going way too quick at the moment and I think it's hit home a little that life does go quick and it's so important to enjoy our everyday. And that includes wearing our good stuff, using the fancy plates and just don't always save things for that 'special' occasion. Everyday we are here is a special occasion and a reason to use the good stuff.

I've started to have my tea in my nicer mugs. I have so many lovely mugs that just sit in the cupboard because I don't want to ruin them or chip them. Which is stupid, because why buy them in the first place if I'm not going to use them!

To be fair we haven't got a 'special' dinner service. We do just have our everyday plates and bowls, but when things need replacing, which we do need some new pasta bowls, you bet I'm buying something totally bougie.

I'm also going to start wearing my 'nicer' things too.

Especially as we head into Autumn and it starts cooling down it is easier to make a little bit more of an effort - to be fair my outfits haven't consisted of much the last couple of months, they've mainly been walking clothes and bikinis, haha!

Moving forward, I really am going to continue using my lovely mugs, even if I do risk chipping them! I'm going to buy those bougie pasta bowls and I will, of course, share with you when I do. The nice handbags are going to start making more of an appearance rather then being tucked away in their dust bags and I'm just going to start treating everyday as a special occasion, because it is. ♥

My experience with Emdogain

Hola mi amigos! Happy Thursday and welcome back to the blog. I hope everyone is well. I wanted to chat today about my recent Emdogain surgery. They call it surgery, but I guess it's really a procedure, as it's done under local anaesthetic, they just numbed the area of the gum and it was done at my dentist practice. Either way it wasn't a pleasant thing to go though. My sympathy goes out to you if you're having this done or anything to do with your teeth for that matter.  I think since I had braces about 5 or 6 years ago my pain threshold for the dentist has completely gone down to zero. I never used to mind going to the dentist, but recently I dread it. It's probably because I'm getting older and things are sadly starting to go wrong. It just feels like every time you go they suggest something else that will need attention. Anyway, with that aside let me tell you a little bit about Emdogain. Well how I understand it anyway and what I've been through with i...

Skincare routine revisited + Beauty of Joseon review

Hi guys welcome back to the blog ♥ Hope everyone's well and having a good week.  * * * Back in January I shared with you what skincare products I use daily and I mentioned I had bought a couple of new items which I would report back on. Here's the  link  to that post if you wanna quick read. About a week or so after writing that post I really started looking at my skin and to be honest it wasn't looking quite right. I always seem to have a red nose and red chin which does bother me. I don't drink alcohol very much at all, literally a glass of wine a month, if that, so it can't be alcohol related. I'm thinking maybe some sort of mild rosacea maybe or maybe it is my skin reacting to the products I use. I went on good old ChatGPT and that suggested I literally strip everything back basically and just use warm water to wash my face in the morning and minimise the products I'm using on my face. When I entered what I was using it recommended to stop using the to...

My daily beauty products

Hi Guys, I hope 2026 is treating you well so far. In my previous  post  I mentioned about some beauty products I had just started using and I will report to you my thought's in due course, but it got me to thinking about the products I already use on a daily basis. My bathroom staples if you like, the go-to's.  It's something I'm always curious to know, what are the products on peoples sinks, their everyday toiletries. Not the ones that maybe an ad feature or collaboration, but the ones that get popped in the shopping basket week after week, month after month. The products that may not be as aesthetically pleasing, but always make the cut. I'm not going to go through every single product I use, 'cause quite frankly you and me just don't have the time and if you're anything like me you haven't got the attention span for it either. But I am going to show you the main players that I literally use everyday. Some I do switch up according to price and ju...
